Hummingbird Interactive (BC, Canada) develops digital and immersive experiences with a strong narrative heart. We’re not bound to one platform of storytelling but explore XR, digital media, live and hybrid spaces in all shapes and sizes.
We focus on immersive storytelling with an emotional impact, and every project should be accessible to a wide audience, whether they are experienced digital consumers or not. We do this, however, by deliberately choosing smaller platforms and locations, as this gives us the potential to experiment with game- narrative- and experience design. This is why we love things like VRChat, Playdate, audio-only projects, physical locations that can only house 1 player at a time and theatre festivals that welcome digital installations.
Hummingbird’s founder and creative director is Jedidjah Julia Noomen, who has an extensive background in theatre, live events and games. For each new project she works with a small group of talented developers, designers and actors from BC and beyond. With Hummingbird, we aim to become big in small things. After developing a lauded first slate of varied small digital-live hybrid projects inspired by real-life historical women, we are now gearing up for a new phase that will focus more on gamedesign and playfulness.
